In 1997 Tunesmith founder, Pauli DeSimone (guitar/vocals) began
writing songs for a new band with a new concept in mind. Combining a genuine
love for honest hard rock music with a taste for fusion and a need to play the
blues, Tunesmith was born. Since then, the band has endured name,
personnel and style changes. The project has become heavily influenced by harder
rock and newer styles and sounds. What started off in blues-rock has evolved into
progressive hard-rock that takes hold and never lets go.
Pauli's guitar work blends powerful hard-rock riffs and precise, clean solo work
with a full, fat sound that competes with today's radio waves. As a vocalist, Pauli
was trained by Ron Anderson who has worked with such names as Axl Rose and American
Idol's Justin Guarini. Pauli's distinctive vocal ability and power give
Tunesmith a distinction and edge that helps set them apart from other
bands.
At the beginning of 2000, the position of
percussionist was filled with the exciting addition of Rob James (drums/vocals)
to the band. Rob delivers unique technique and feel learned from a background
in orchestral percussion and years of studying the best progressive and fusion
drummers in the business. This, coupled with strong backing vocals, makes Rob a
significant and powerful contributor to the strength of Tunesmith.
Early 2003 saw the arrival of Aubrey Ridgeway (bass/vocals) as Tunesmith's
third extraordinary member. Another fan of the progressive and fusion masters,
Aubrey adds another distinctive blend of imagination and intricacy with his
bass work. As the band's third voice, Aubrey fills out the vocal lineup to
extend Tunesmith's harmonies far beyond the depth of most
three-piece bands.
As Tunesmith has evolved, dozens of songs have formed a repertoire
as extensive and dynamic as the band's members. Styles range from radio-friendly
rock anthems and blues refrains to intense progressive and hard rock compositions.
Live shows continue to capture audiences with incredibly tight performances of this
sometimes complex yet refreshing music. The strong personal inner core and prolific
artistic facets of the band ensure that this dynamic trio is set to
become a key player in the years to come...the history of Tunesmith
has only just begun.
